Atletico Madrid have officially announced the signing of forward Giacomo Raspadori. The Italian striker moves to the Spanish capital from Serie A outfit Napoli, and Los Colchoneros have paid a reported 26-million-euro fee for his services. He has put pen to paper a five-year contract at the Vicente Calderon.
Raspadori started his youth career with Sassuolo in his native Italy and his performances for them caught the eye of Napoli, who initially signed him on loan with a view to making the deal permanent later.
In his three-year stint in Naples, Raspadori made over 100 appearances across all competitions for the Partenopei. He scored six league goals last season as Napoli were crowned Serie A winners.
The 25-year-old Raspadori has been capped by Italy at various youth levels and was also a part of their senior Euro 2020 winning squad, with the Azzurri beating England at Wembley to lift the continental trophy.
Atleti have invested heavily in the transfer market, signing the likes of Alex Baena, Johnny Cardoso, David Hancko and Thiago Almada in this widow. Raspadori is their third acquisition from the Italian league this summer after Juan Musso and Matteo Ruggeri (both from Atalanta)
Atleti will start the new league season away at Espanyol this weekend.
